About the data

The estimated population is calculated from mid-2024 Output Area estimated counts available in a Nomis table for the estimated number of usual residents in households and communal establishments. Output Areas are the smallest Census geography and normally contain between 100 and 625 persons at the time of the most recent Census (March 2021).

In this tool, the estimated population is the total for Output Areas that have their population-weighted centroids within the circle shown on the map. The estimated population is not precise, because the extents of some Output Areas will straddle the bounds of the circle. In general, the estimated population will be proportionally more accurate where the circle has a large radius or covers areas of high population density.
